Who we help

Most people come to us at one of four moments.

Our clients are mostly couples and individuals near or in retirement who have saved well — some want to be sure it holds, and some want to be sure it passes on well. We work with households across the country by video.

Retiring in the next five years

These are the years with the most one-way doors. When to stop working, when to claim, which pension option to take, how to handle the accounts from your employer, and how to pay for health insurance before 65 if you retire early.

We help you see all of those decisions together, in the right order, before any of them are locked in. Most people leave the first plan knowing exactly what they need to decide and by when.

Already retired

The plan that got you to retirement needs checking every year. Spending drifts. Tax rules change. Required withdrawals start. Medicare coverage that fit last year may not fit this one.

We keep a calendar of what needs attention and when, so the important things happen on time instead of in a rush in December.

After losing a spouse

When a spouse dies, household income usually falls — one Social Security check stops and some pension income may stop with it. Taxes often rise at the same time, because a single filer reaches higher brackets sooner.

There is a lot to sort, and very little of it has to be decided in the first weeks. We help separate what needs doing now from what can wait, and then build a plan for the income you have.

If you are married and planning ahead, this is worth looking at together, now.

Planning what you leave behind

Some families will never spend most of what they have. The income question is settled; the open questions are about who gets what, how it gets there, and how much the tax bill takes on the way.

We check that the names on every account match your wishes, plan around the taxes your heirs will owe, and work alongside your estate attorney so the documents and the money agree.
